I've been humming Hall and Oates' song, "She's a Rich Girl" all day. Not that the song is actually relevant to today's featured friend, at least not in a monetary sense. She does, however, live a completely enriched life. The humble nature of her lifestyle infused with her creativity is of much greater value than any glitz or glamor you could find within a Kardashian.
Susan gave me permission today to pirate the photos from her Facebook page. Scrolling through, my decision to feature her is confirmed. She and her husband live on a farm with their two daughters. They have a myriad of animals, tap trees for maple syrup, and grow and decorate giant pumpkins. Susan can do anything from stitch clothing and costumes to growing and pickling her own vegetables. She can mix a cocktail, bake a shark cake, and looks cute as hell when she cuddles a duckling. And her day job? She's an artist. Like, for real. She's living the dream!
Her girls won the mama lottery as far as I'm concerned, too (no offense to my own Mumsy). But she's teaching them how to get dirty and work from the land. She's igniting their ingenuity, and nurturing their imagination. She's amazing, and humble, and kind. And I'm very glad I can call her my friend.
Susan, you're a rich girl, and you make all who know you a little richer, too.
